In observance of World Kidney Day 2026, a Health Camp cum Organ Donation Awareness Campaign was held in Wainem Rongmei Naga Village and Bungte Chiru, Nambol, Bishnupur district, themed “Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet.” Organized by the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, the initiative aimed to raise awareness about kidney health and provide healthcare services to rural communities.
Specialist doctors from various fields such as Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, and ENT offered free consultations and medical check-ups, benefiting approximately 150 patients who received medical advice, treatments, and necessary medications. An awareness session on organ and tissue donation was also part of the event, where healthcare professionals distributed informational pamphlets to educate the public on organ donation, early detection of kidney diseases, and healthy lifestyle benefits.
Free medications were provided to patients, and the event was supported by local volunteers and organizers. Coordination of the health camp was led by Prof. Ranjan Gondamei of IIT Roorkee. The initiative received positive feedback from local residents, highlighting the importance of direct access to specialized healthcare services. This outreach program signifies RIMS Imphal’s commitment to promoting community health, enhancing awareness about organ donation, and strengthening preventive healthcare in rural areas of Manipur.
