RIMS Holds Dental Health Camp for Children

A dental health check-up and treatment camp was successfully organized at Kakwa Namoirakpam Leikai and Naorem Leikai by the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal, in collaboration with Kangleicha Yaipha Lamjing Lup (KYLL). This initiative was part of ISPPD NEST – Nurture, Educate, Serve and Treat, aimed at enhancing children’s oral health in the North-eastern region.

The camp benefited 60 children and their parents through oral health screenings, dental caries detection, and assessments of gum and oral hygiene. Educational demonstrations were conducted on proper brushing techniques, healthy dietary habits, and the significance of regular dental check-ups. Minor restorative care and tooth extractions were provided to children needing urgent treatment.

Additionally, pamphlets, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, toothbrushes, toothpaste, oral hygiene kits, and necessary medications were distributed. Dr. Wairokpam Bhoomika Devi, the Associate Professor and Head of the Department, supervised the programme, which was well-received and noted for active participation from both parents and children, marking it as an enriching experience for all involved.
