Residents of Laipham Khunou in Imphal East district staged a sit-in protest today to condemn the brutal killing of Laishram Johnson and the serious injury of Elam Roshan at Chingmeirong. The protesters expressed their outrage over the incident, which involved the alleged abduction of three individuals by unknown assailants on the previous evening. Laishram Johnson was pronounced dead and is currently at the RIMS mortuary, while Elam Roshan is in critical condition at Shija Hospital, fighting for his life in the ICU. Both victims hail from Laipham Khunou.
One protester emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “Abducting and torturing individuals is unacceptable. The authorities must take appropriate action against the culprits to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.”
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, demanding immediate action and accountability for the tragic incident. The protestors called for swift justice for the victims and urged the government to ensure safety and security for all citizens.
