Renowned Assamese Vocalist Samar Hazarika No More

Samar Hazarika, an Assamese singer and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s younger brother, died early on Tuesday.He passed away at his Guwahati home in Nizarapar. He had long been afflicted with pneumonia.In 1960, Hazarika started his musical career and went on to sing various songs from Assamese movies. He became well-known among music enthusiasts after several of his CDs were published throughout time.Admirers and members of the cultural community are lamenting the loss of a well-respected voice, leaving a vacuum in Assam’s music scene.With full state honors, his last rituals would be carried out at the Nabagraha cremation in Guwahati.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister, has lamented his passing.Hazarika’s loss is irreversible for Assam’s cultural life, according to the AGP president and Assam Minister, who expressed his condolences.”Deeply grieved by the loss of Samar Hazarika, a brilliant figure in Assamese culture.
