The Office of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin, organised a rally at Pariong village in Eastern West Khasi Hills District, along with an awareness programme at Pariong Presbyterian Higher Secondary School on Friday. The initiative was part of an outreach campaign to create public awareness against child marriage and to inform people about the legal protection and support mechanisms available for children. The programme witnessed the participation of teachers and dozens of school students, who took part in the rally carrying placards and raising slogans to express their opposition to child marriage. Following the rally, a short awareness session was held at Pariong Presbyterian Higher Secondary School. Legal experts including L. Nongrem, ALADC; D.D. Diengdoh ALADC, and P. Marwein from the Office of the DCPO addressed the gathering, highlighting the harmful effects of child marriage and explaining the legal safeguards and assistance available for the protection and welfare of children.
