Rajeev Masand says, ‘Rekha canceled after the interview was completed, I was speechless: ‘She said I didn’t want to…’
Considered one of the finest actresses of Indian cinema, Rekha is known for playing strong and complex female characters. She often makes headlines for her fashion and style but rarely gives interviews. Recalling his experience with the veteran star, former journalist Rajeev Masand said how he once gave him an interview but later canceled it.
Recently, in an interview given to YouTube channel Shardulogy, Rajeev said, “We had done an interview with Rekha ji a few years ago. The whole interview was done and then she said, ‘I don’t want to do this, can we end it?’ I was stunned. First of all, she rarely gives interviews. He did something to me. We did one several years ago and one a few years ago. The interview is still there, they said we will do it again. These are people who are in search of perfection and excellence.”
Defending the actress, Rajeev Masand said, “In Rekha ji’s case, she is someone who comes forward very rarely. If you don’t like the way you look or speak, I understand that you want to be in control. They are all in search of completeness.”
Rekha was recently seen at Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding reception, where she almost cried. In a video shared by Sonakshi, the bride can be heard saying, “Don’t cry” as Rekha meets her and gets flushed.
Talking about the work front, Rekha was last seen in the film Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se. He had a cameo in the film. Her last feature film was Super Nani 10 years ago, in which she played the role of Bharti Bhatia.
