Preparations Reviewed as CM Heads Shirui Festival Organizing Committee Meet

Chief Minister Y Khemchand chaired a meeting today regarding the Organising Committee of the Shirui Festival 2026 at the Secretariat. This annual celebration in Ukhrul district spans five days and highlights the blooming of the rare Shirui Lily flower, an endangered species. Hosted by the Manipur Tourism Department, the festival integrates cultural performances, rock concerts, and programs focused on traditional values and ecological awareness. In his social media post, Khemchand noted that the meeting involved discussions among Hon’ble MLAs and senior officials to ensure robust preparations for the event. He stressed the importance of the Shirui Festival as a platform to enhance communal harmony and foster closer ties between hill and valley districts. The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the government’s dedication to promoting and preserving Manipur’s indigenous culture and traditions, while showcasing the state’s unique heritage on a global stage.
