Prateek Bordoloi of Congress withdraws his candidature from Margherita constituency

Prateek Bordoloi, who was nominated by the Congress as its candidate for the Margherita Assembly seat, today withdrew his candidature in the wake of his father, Pradyut Bordoloi, switching over to the BJP. Pradyut Bordoloi, who was the Congress MP from Nagaon, joined the BJP in New Delhi Delhi yesterday and is likely to contest from the Dispur Assembly constituency as a candidate of the saffron party.
Prateek, in a letter to Indian National Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, said that he felt it would not be appropriate to continue as a candidate in light of his father joining the BJP. He, however, said that he will continue to work with the party, asserting that his faith in the ideals of the Congress remains unwavering.
