Pradyut Bordoloi Joins BJP, Move Announced in New Delhi

A day after resigning from the Congress party, Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi. His induction into the party was accompanied by the presence of notable figures, including Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia. Chief Minister Sarma welcomed Bordoloi to the party, urging BJP workers to support him in achieving victory in the forthcoming Assembly elections. Sarma also announced that Nabajyoti Talukdar, another leader who recently left Congress, along with others, would join the BJP in Guwahati within the next few days. He asserted that self-respecting leaders could no longer remain in the Congress and expressed confidence that additional Congress leaders will also defect to the BJP post-elections.

Bordoloi reflected on his decision to leave Congress, describing it as one of the most challenging choices he has ever made. He revealed that he felt stifled and disrespected within the Congress, indicating that his experiences had prompted his departure. Furthermore, he praised Chief Minister Sarma while responding to inquiries about the Congress party’s decision to nominate his son, Prateek, for the Margherita Assembly seat, emphasizing that his son is entitled to make his own choices.
