Under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) scheme, the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) organized post-operative check-ups for five cataract patients from Sugnu, overseen by the District Administration Kakching. These patients were previously identified during cataract detection and surgery camps on December 24, 2025, held as part of Good Governance Week, and their surgeries were performed at Kakching Eye Hospital. Additionally, pre-operative examinations for another five patients identified during a separate camp on December 22, 2025, took place today, with surgeries scheduled for tomorrow. The DSWO, in collaboration with the Medilane Foundation, Imphal Eye Clinic, and Kakching Eye Hospital, has organized special cataract detection drives for senior citizens, with recent camps held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex and the Sugnu Municipality Office.
