Police in Manipur detain three rebels connected to many terrorist organizations

Manipur police arrested three militants affiliated with different insurgent groups during coordinated operations across three districts on October 24. Authorities also seized weapons and identification documents as part of the investigations. The most notable arrest took place in Churachandpur district, where police apprehended 18-year-old Haominthang Haokip, an active member of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), from his residence in Old Gelmoul.

Officials recovered a pistol loaded with two live rounds, a mobile phone, and an Aadhaar card. Haokip was reportedly involved in extortion and illegal fund collection from local businesses and residents in Churachandpur town. In Kakching district, forces arrested Salam Sushil Singh, 23, identified as a cadre of the banned outfit KCP (Taibanganba), from his residence in Kakching Wairi Bamon Pareng. Authorities seized his mobile phone, Aadhaar card, and PAN card.

The third arrest occurred in Imphal West district, where Shamjetsabam Sanjit Singh, 42, also known as Inaobi and Nongshaba, was detained under Patsoi police station jurisdiction from Sangaithel Makha Leikai. Singh is believed to be an active member of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) and was found in possession of a mobile phone at the time of arrest.
