Pink Bike Taxi Initiative: Nagaland’s Step Towards Women Empowerment

Nagaland is set to introduce a pink two-wheeler taxi service exclusively operated by women in the Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts. The Regional Transport Authority of these districts has called for applications from eligible women candidates who wish to obtain permits for these pink taxi two-wheelers, with the initiative aimed at promoting women empowerment and self-employment. A total of 15 permits will be distributed in each district specifically for this purpose.

To qualify, applicants must be indigenous women of Nagaland, aged between 20 and 40 years. They are required to submit several documents, including permanent residential certificates, Aadhaar cards indicating a district address, valid driving licenses, and unemployment certificates. Application forms will be available starting February 9 from the District Transport Officer’s office in Dimapur for a fee of Rs 100 per form. The deadline for submitting applications is February 20. Following this, shortlisted candidates will be notified by February 23 regarding the upcoming riding and driving tests, to be held at the same office in Dimapur.
