Peru joins Nagaland’s 25th Hornbill Festival as key international partner

To Nagaland’s cultural diplomacy, Peru has been announced as a key partner for the 25th Hornbill Festival, set to take place later this year. The collaboration marks an exciting chapter in the festival’s international outreach, with Peru actively participating through its artists and performers. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio confirmed the partnership following a meeting with Peruvian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, signaling a strengthened bond between the two nations. The festival will feature various cultural exchanges, showcasing Peruvian talent across multiple events.

This announcement follows the state’s recent engagement with Japan, ensuring its participation in the festival, alongside Peru. Japan’s involvement was secured through discussions with Japanese diplomats Takashi Ariyoshi and Mayumi Tsubakimoto.

The Hornbill Festival, renowned for its vibrant cultural displays, will now include international contributions from Peru, Japan, and Wales, reflecting Nagaland’s growing prominence in global cultural exchanges. Key attractions will include performances, workshops, handicraft exhibitions, and initiatives supported by Toyota in collaboration with the State Government’s Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA).
