A sensitization programme focused on Central and State Government schemes, initiatives, and financial literacy took place at Koshang Community Hall in Khangshim Village, located in Tengnoupal District. The event was sponsored by the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles under the Government of Manipur and organized by the District Handlooms and Textiles of Tengnoupal District. It was inaugurated by Md Nazmul Huda Khan, who serves as the SDO/BDO for Tengnoupal and Machi. Project Manager (Handloom), Shoibam Heramani Singh, presided over the proceedings, which also included the presence of notable figures such as Thokchom Basanta Singh, Deputy Director (Handloom) at the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, and Larneireng Jachi, Deputy Manager of SBI Kongsang.
During the programme, looms and accessories were distributed to beneficiaries as part of the National Handloom Development Programme initiated by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Additionally, the Tengnoupal Small Cluster Development Programme was highlighted at the event. In his address as the chief guest, Md Nazmul Huda Khan emphasized the significance of the handloom and textile sector, encouraging attendees to actively engage in the sector’s growth. He urged the community to collaborate with the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles and financial institutions to fortify the handloom industry, underscoring the collective effort required for its advancement.
