The Annual College Week of Gargaon College concluded on Saturday amidst great fanfare and enthusiasm. The closing ceremony and prize distribution commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Biman Chandra Baruah, President of the governing body, accompanied by other distinguished guests. Dr. Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College, inaugurated the program and welcomed students, expressing satisfaction with their participation and optimism for the college’s future as a university. He urged students to cultivate human values and prioritize mental well-being.
Padma Shri Rebakanta Mahanta, Xatradhikar of Khatpar Xatra, and Dr Anil Saikia, retired Principal of Moran College, honored Xattriya artist Rebakanta Mahanta with the Padma Shri award. Mahanta emphasized the importance of compassion, truth, and forgiveness in his cultural legacy. In his talk, chief guest Dr. Anil Saikia discussed the intricacies of scientific advancement and how it has influenced language, human history, and social structures.
Dr. Saikia also underlined the significance of striking a balance between the four fundamental facets of life: health (well-being), hand (activity), heart (emotions), and head (intellect). He urged the pupils to prioritize their tasks and make good use of their free time. He also emphasized how important it is to carry out one’s obligations to one’s neighbors, society, and country. He also emphasized the need of making well-informed decisions, stressing that being knowledgeable is necessary in order to exercise one’s rights.
