The Seventh Session of the Twelfth Manipur Legislative Assembly is set to resume on March 9, 2026, in the Assembly Hall, as announced by Chief Secretary Puneet Kumat Goel. During this session, the state budget is expected to be presented. All government departments are required to submit their Annual Administrative Reports for the fiscal year 2025-26 for review by the Assembly.
This session follows the assembly’s reconvening on February 5, 2026, where a one-day session commenced with the Governor’s address after the swearing-in of Yumnam Khemchand Singh as the 13th Chief Minister on February 4. This return to normalcy came after a suspension of assembly activities that had lasted since February 13, 2025, due to ethnic violence, which has plagued Manipur since 2023.
During the February 5 session, key proceedings included the Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam’s motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho. The Report of the Business Advisory Committee for 2026 was also presented, followed by a successful Motion of Confidence moved by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, with contributions from opposition leaders including Okram Ibobi and several other MLAs.
