NSS volunteers interact with officials during visit to HQ IGAR (East), Silchar

On January 4, 2026, the Assam Rifles organized a visit for 350 members of the National Service Scheme (NSS) from seven North Eastern states to the Headquarters of IGAR (East) in Silchar, Assam. The event showcased various activities aimed at inspiring and educating the participating students and their teachers.

Upon arrival, they were greeted with an energetic Khukri dance performed by the troops, which effectively illustrated the warrior spirit of the Assam Rifles. The students observed a display of weapons, providing them insights into the armaments utilized by the Assam Rifles unit. Additionally, a drone demonstration was conducted, where attendees learned about various types of drones, their applications, benefits, and their role in operational tasks.

The visit also included a tour of living, training, and administrative facilities, allowing the students to experience firsthand the daily life and routines of Assam Rifles soldiers. An inspirational interaction took place with the Deputy Inspector General of HQ IGAR (East), who encouraged the youth to consider a career in the Indian Armed Forces.
