New Laws Aim to Protect Privacy and Prevent Misinformation

France has announced one of the world’s strictest regulatory frameworks for artificial intelligence (AI), aimed at ensuring transparency, privacy, and ethical AI use. The legislation, passed by the French Parliament, mandates that AI-generated content be clearly labeled and requires companies to disclose how AI models are trained.

President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that the law seeks to prevent misinformation, particularly in the context of upcoming European elections. “AI must serve society, not manipulate it,” he stated.

Tech companies operating in France, including Google and OpenAI, will be required to submit their AI models for government review. Violations of the new law could result in heavy fines or bans.

Critics argue that the regulations may slow AI innovation in France, but supporters believe they set an important global precedent for responsible AI governance.
