Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who now thinks the industry pays him well, once worked for around Rs 1,000 a day. In a recent interview, the actor recalled working on Sarfarosh and shared how he was surprised to see Aamir on the sets.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Nawazuddin Siddiqui recalled how he got the role in Aamir Khan’s 1999 film Sarfarosh. He memorizes that “I got a role in Sarfarosh,”. He told me, please come to Filmistan. I reached Film City by chance.” When he finally reached the right place he had no idea that he would be acting with Aamir.
Recalling his first meeting with Aamir Khan, the Rauthu Ka Raaz actor said, “So I finally reached there. I had a small role in the film Sarfarosh. Throughout the script, I could read ACP Rathod, I thought, ‘Who is this Rathod?’ They were like you mind your own business, you learn your lines. I was guessing that it would be Aamir Khan. Eventually I learned my dialogues. All my clothes were torn, and stained. Then suddenly Aamir Khan appeared in front of me. I started stuttering after seeing him.”
“Luckily, my dialogue and characters was more or less the same, it was of a scared guy. I am stammering. People thought, ‘Nawazuddin is doing an amazing job’. Nobody knew I was nervous. That’s how it all occurred and the scene was shot. Everybody started to appreciate me for my job. How do I tell them I was scared for real?”, he added.
He also recalled his time at Munnabhai MBBS and said that he was paid quite well for it. “I got paid well for my role in Munna Bhai MBBS. Big names were associated with it, they had good money. I was paid well. I think I earned around Rs 20 thousand to 22 thousand for my role. Other roles paid from 1k to 5k. We used to go happy when we got Rs 5,000”.
