National Housing Bank Guwahati meeting to unlock housing finance potential for North-East growth

The National Housing Bank (NHB) gathered top executives from Housing Finance Companies, Small Finance Banks (SFBs), and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in Guwahati for a pivotal meeting aimed at unlocking housing finance as a driver for the North-East’s development. Themed “Unlocking Potential: Housing Finance as a Catalyst for North-East Development,” the session attracted key officials, including Shri Manoj Ayyappan, Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services, and Shri Kuldip Narayan, Joint Secretary (HFA), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Discussions centered around leveraging financial tools like the PMAY 2.0 Interest Subsidy Scheme, with NHB playing a critical role as the Central Nodal Agency.

The meeting also saw the virtual inauguration of new branches for PNB Housing Finance and Aadhar Housing Finance in Guwahati, signaling a growing presence of housing finance institutions in the region. These developments are set to fuel economic growth by facilitating greater access to affordable housing finance for residents of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura.
