National Defence College officers visit Serchhip, Thenzawl

 A team of 17 officers from the National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, visited Serchhip and Thenzawl districts of Mizoram as part of their ongoing study tour. The visit forms part of the 66th National Defence College Course’s ‘Understanding India Study Tour (UIST)’. The delegation included officers from various parts of India as well as international participants from Germany, Maldives, Morocco, Russia, and Nepal. The visiting delegation held a meeting at the DC Conference Hall (DC Pisapui Hall) with Serchhip District Commissioner Paul L. Khuma, along with district officials and leaders of local civil society organizations. The delegates were briefed through a PowerPoint presentation on the overall profile of Serchhip district, government initiatives, tourism potential, developments in agriculture and horticulture, rural development programmes, the education scenario, and law and order measures undertaken by the police and administration. An interactive session was also held where the visiting officers raised questions and sought clarifications.

After the meeting, the NDC team was taken to Zawlpui Zau in Serchhip. The visit was facilitated by District Horticulture Officer R. Lalrintluanga and his team, where the delegation observed local initiatives and government interventions related to fresh produce and horticulture development in the district. In Thenzawl, the delegation visited the Anganwadi Centre at Tualvungi Veng, where they were received by CDPO Serchhip Caryl Lalpari and her team. They later visited Government Thenzawl High School and interacted with students and teachers in the presence of Thenzawl SDEO Melody L. Betlu. The officers also visited MV Handloom at Venghlun, a handloom cottage industry unit, where they were welcomed by EO Serchhip Pi Lalchhanhimi and the District Commerce & Industries Officer (DCIO). The team further visited the Integrated Ayush Hospital and held an interaction with the staff.
