Nagaland’s Molvom is set to become the third major railway station

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully completed the first freight train trial run using Multi-Unit (MU) Locomotives on the Shokhuvi-Molvom segment of the Dhansiri-Zubza New Line Project in Nagaland. This is a significant turning point in the region’s improved railway connectivity. At 6:00 PM, the train arrived at Molvom, marking the start of the 15.419-kilometer route, which should be completed and operational in the upcoming months.

Molvom will become the third main railway station in Nagaland, after Shokhuvi and Dimapur, hence the trial run is important. By improving regional travel, this new rail link will give Nagaland improved access to the country’s railway system. When finished, it will enhance the flow of people and products, closing logistical gaps and fostering economic expansion. It is anticipated that the expansion will help local companies in the Molvom region by providing a more dependable and affordable means of shipping goods.

The establishment of railway freight services will increase trade efficiency by giving small-scale manufacturers, industries, and local dealers direct access to national markets. Additionally, it is anticipated that this link will draw investment, promote new business ventures, and advance Nagaland’s socioeconomic development. A more connected and economically active Nagaland is the result of this successful trial, which is part of NFR’s ongoing commitment to developing railway infrastructure in the Northeast.
