The much-awaited Konyak Heritage Complex in Nagaland is set to be inaugurated on April 5, 2025, coinciding with the Aoleang festival of the Konyak tribe, marking a significant step in the state’s cultural and tourism development. A review meeting for the ongoing project was held at the Chief Minister’s residence office in Mon on January 25, 2025, to ensure the timely completion of the project.
The meeting followed Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s visit to the project site at Mon HQ on January 20, where he assessed the progress of the complex. The Konyak Heritage Complex, designed to promote tourism, culture, and livelihood opportunities, will feature several key components, including Nine Morungs (traditional Konyak houses), an amphitheater, an administrative building, a multi-purpose hall, and an open-air ground with a rostrum. Additional facilities planned for the complex include an Angh House, a helipad, a women’s hostel, a basketball court, a guest house, a park, and a water reservoir, among others, aimed at further enhancing the area’s infrastructure.
During the review meeting, Chief Minister Rio directed the Department of Underdeveloped Area (DUDA) and the contractor to ensure that all aspects of the project are completed on time for the inauguration. The meeting was attended by the Advisor of DUDA, the Chief Secretary, the Additional Chief Secretary, the Development Commissioner, the Commissioner & Secretary of DUDA, the Director, the Additional Director, the Executive Engineer, and the contractor.
