Nagaland President Q. Tuccu calls for unity among Naga political movements

Q. Tuccu, President of the Government of the Republic of Nagalim, reiterated the Naga people’s unwavering commitment to sovereignty during the 46th Republic Day celebrations. In his address, he reflected on the historical significance of the day and condemned India’s alleged divisive tactics in the Indo-Naga peace talks.

Tuccu emphasized that the declaration of a sovereign Naga government 45 years ago was a bold step towards self-determination. He warned against accepting any settlement within the framework of the Indian Constitution, asserting that the Naga struggle is about rectifying historical injustices. He accused India of fostering internal divisions within the Naga political movement to weaken their collective stand.

Paying tribute to Naga freedom fighters and soldiers, Tuccu urged the people to remain steadfast in their pursuit of sovereignty. He also highlighted the significance of Nagalim’s natural resources, particularly petroleum, and accused the Indian government of attempting to exploit them. He reaffirmed that Naga wealth must remain under Naga control.

Referencing the 2015 Framework Agreement, he called for unity and resilience, stating that those who lost their lives in massacres are “national martyrs” whose sacrifices must be honored. He urged victims to come forward with their stories so that their dignity and rights could be acknowledged.
