Nagaland Government Flags Procedural Issues Amid Ad Hoc Teachers’ Protest

The Nagaland government’s Department of School Education has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the issues faced by adhoc and contract teachers. However, it has clarified that the demands put forth by the All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG) cannot be fulfilled at this time due to necessary procedural limitations. According to a press release from the department, the adherence to the State’s one-time regularisation policy mandates extensive document scrutiny, eligibility verification, and compliance with uniform Government guidelines applicable to all eligible adhoc and contract personnel in the State. As a result, the department stated that it is currently not feasible to provide a specific date for regularisation or to accept ANATG’s demands outside the established framework. ANATG, representing 1,166 teachers appointed on an adhoc or contract basis from the late 1990s to 2012, is actively protesting for the regularisation of their services.
