Nagaland Congress raises alarm over absence of updates on peace talks with Amit Shah

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has raised serious concerns over the lack of updates from Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his cabinet following their meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The meeting, held amid escalating tensions due to the NSCN (I-M)’s threat to resume armed struggle, has left the public anxious and uncertain.

In a press statement, the NPCC criticized the state government’s silence, stating, “The conspicuous lack of communication following such a critical meeting deepens the prevailing unease in the state.” They emphasized that the Chief Minister was expected to provide clarity on the outcomes of discussions that directly impact the fragile peace process.

The Congress also warned that the absence of a reassuring message could fuel misinformation and undermine public confidence in the ongoing Naga Political Peace Process. They urged the state leadership to address the growing unease and ensure transparency to uphold the trust built over decades of negotiations.

With the peace process at a sensitive juncture, the NPCC stressed the importance of open communication to prevent further erosion of public trust and to safeguard efforts for a lasting resolution.
