Nagaland CM Pushes for Restoration of FMR in Appeal to Amit Shah

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah to reinstate the Free Movement Regime (FMR) with Myanmar, citing the state’s 215-km border and the cultural ties of Naga communities on both sides. Rio highlighted that recent changes to the FMR by the Centre have adversely affected these communities. He requested a review of the guidelines, advocating for a more flexible approach that balances national security with the traditional rights of the people. The State Cabinet has also expressed concerns regarding the revised FMR. Shah assured Rio that the matter would be examined positively.
