Kolkata: Veteran leader and MLA Mukul Roy, who was once the second in command of Trinamool Congress and later returned to BJP and then Trinamool, has deteriorated and had to be admitted to the hospital. He has been admitted to a private hospital near the bypass in Kolkata on Thursday afternoon.
What did the close ones say?
His close ones say that he was not eating properly for the last few days, due to which he became more worried, considering his physical condition the doctors advised him to be admitted to the hospital. Following that advice Mukul Roy was admitted. He was also admitted to the hospital last year.
MLA Mukul, who won from Krishnanagar North assembly seat on a BJP ticket and later joined Trinamool, was admitted to the hospital in February last year after falling ill. At that time, Mukul’s close relatives had said that water had accumulated on his head and this disease was chronic and he is also suffering from dementia.
Last February, ED had sent a notice To MLA Mukul Roy. He was called to Delhi for questioning in the old chit fund case, but his family wrote a letter to ED and informed about his illness. After this the ED officials went to the MLA’s house.

Mukul Roy was the ‘second in command’ of Trinamool, he was known as one of Mamata Banerjee’s trusted leaders in state politics. Later he left Trinamool and joined BJP. In the 2021 assembly elections, Mukul contested from Krishnanagar North constituency on the lotus symbol and won. Within days of the election results being declared, Mukul returned to Trinamool in the presence of Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee.
