Officials on Wednesday said awareness campaigns and mock drills are some of the measures being taken by the government to avoid earthquake damage as powerful earthquakes rattled Delhi-NCR and other regions of northern India.
In order to inform people about what to do and what not to do during an earthquake, O P Mishra, the director of the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, said mock drills are also being organised.
Mock drills are undertaken in conjunction with other institutions by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and they are done on a regular basis.”
