MLA Valte hailed as people’s leader of Manipur by TSA

The Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) has expressed profound sorrow and condolences regarding the death of Vungzagin Valte, which occurred on February 21 in New Delhi due to complications from a serious attack and injuries sustained on May 4, 2023. Valte, who hailed from Mualnuam village, was a distinguished three-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the 56–Thanlon Assembly Constituency from 2012 to 2026 and served as a Cabinet Minister from 2020 to 2022. His life was marked by a commitment to public service, as he dedicated his efforts to the welfare of his community. Prior to his political career, he worked as a banker for the State Bank of India, demonstrating his dedication to societal development through integrity and diligence, according to TSA’s press release.

Throughout the tumultuous times in Thadou history, particularly during 2017, Valte showed unwavering support for the Thadou Students’ Association, notably attending its 60th Foundation Day celebration in Taloulong Village as Guest of Honour on October 29, 2017. This act of solidarity is deeply appreciated within the community. His presence at significant events illustrated his courage and steadfast commitment to his constituents. Moreover, while he was a leader from the Paite tribe and a member of the Zomi community, he established himself as an accessible mass leader for all Manipur people, transcending tribal affiliations and constituency lines.

The TSA honors Valte’s legacy of humility and inclusive leadership, expressing prayers for his eternal peace and strength for his grieving family. The organization hopes that Valte’s life and contributions will continue to inspire future generations.
