Armed Kuki militants launched an attack on Sinam village in the Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency, Imphal East district, just a day after a similar assault on Koutruk Village in Imphal West.
Sources indicate that the militants employed drones to drop bombs on security personnel’s bunkers, destroying three bunkers and damaging property belonging to the forces. The incident has raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of current central security measures, as militants were able to penetrate the area despite the presence of security forces.
The attack has left villagers feeling increasingly vulnerable. A local villager voiced their concern, stating, “The recent attack has shattered the sense of security previously provided by village defense forces. We relied on the assurances from the Assam Rifles, but now we feel exposed. How long will we have to endure such violence?” The villager urged the government to take immediate action to prevent further attacks.
