Mexico has dramatically escalated trade protectionist measures by imposing up to 50% tariffs on goods originating from several Asian countries, including India. This move follows concerns in Mexico that certain Asian imports are being undervalued or shipped as part of low-value parcels to circumvent existing duties. The increased tariffs, which are aimed at protecting domestic industries, come at a time when India’s overall exports are otherwise projected to rise by 15% for the month of November.
