The Governor of Meghalaya has declared February 21 as general holiday in the whole of East Khasi Hills/ West Khasi Hills/South West Khasi Hills/Eastern West Khasi Hills/ Ri-Bhoi/East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills District on account of the General Elections, 2025 to the two Autonomous District Councils in the State i.e., the Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Councils.
As per the notification, employees working in the Garo Hills who are electors under the Constituencies of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council shall be granted Special Leave.
Industrial undertaking or any of the establishment governed by the N.I. Act, 1881. shops and those working on shift basis, daily wage, casual worker including those working outside the Constituencies who are voters under the above Constituencies shall be entitled to the benefit of a Paid Holiday as provided in Section 133(2)(b).
