The District Magistrate (DM) of East Khasi Hills (EKH) district on Monday promulgated curfew at Mawkynrew Village under Madanrting Police Station with immediate effect, following reports of vandalism and destruction of property and person at Ramakrishna Mission School, Mawkynrew.
In an order under Section 123 BNSS, EKH DM, Rosetta Mary Kurbah stated that, “These activities are likely to continue with every likelihood of causing serious breach of peace and tranquility and may lead to loss of life and property.” The order further stated that there is a serious deterioration of law and order in areas under Mawkynrew Village and the curfew will remain in place till further orders.
