Meghalaya CM launches the One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme

The One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme, 2025, which provides financial relief to Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) customers, was introduced by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal was present when the project was announced, and its goal is to lessen the burden of overdue electricity bills. Nearly 45,000 consumers would profit from the program, the chief minister announced at its launch, and more than Rs. 26 crore in levies and penalties will be eliminated.

OTS Scheme 2025 applies to “Domestic Low Tension (DLT)” and “Kutir Jyoti/BPL” customers with a declared load of 5 KW or less, as well as to customers who have been disconnected for failing to pay long-overdue electricity bills. From March 1st, 2025, to March 31st, 2025, the One Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme, 2025, will be in force. The OTS Scheme 2025 can only be applied for and used by unconnected users. A total of Rs. 119 crore is the amount of unpaid consumer debt.

The Chief Minister also announced the pilot program for six maintenance vehicles, which will be used by MeECL maintenance workers and linesmen to swiftly and safely reach the electricity lines at different heights and places. The automobiles were purchased for a total of Rs. 1.48 Cr. There won’t be any planned load shedding this year, the chief minister added. He praised the department for the various actions being done to improve services at the MeECL.
