Meghalaya CM Launches Major Shillong Beautification Drive

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma launched a city beautification drive in Mawlai Mawroh, Shillong. He emphasized the initiative as part of the government’s efforts, in collaboration with the urban affairs department and municipalities, to enhance the cleanliness, greenery, safety, and aesthetics of urban areas. Sangma acknowledged the active community participation in these efforts and reported the installation of CCTV systems in 25 out of 45 planned localities in the first phase, with work ongoing for the remaining 20. He stressed the importance of community-government cooperation for effective development and encouraged discussion on local needs, which included requests for streetlights, CCTVs, and improved public infrastructure. Additionally, he distributed beautification grants to localities and inaugurated CCTV installations in Mawlai Mawroh, underscoring the significance of even minor initiatives in contributing to broader development goals.
