Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma attended the MPOWER contextualisation workshop in Tura, West Garo Hills, focusing on adolescent development. The workshop, part of the Meghalaya Programme for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment, and Resilience, seeks to address critical developmental needs of adolescents in the state.
The MPOWER initiative aims to bridge gaps in adolescent growth by developing a Comprehensive Adolescent Development Framework. The framework prioritizes socio-emotional and mental wellbeing, physical health, cognitive capacity, and career aspirations to support youth during transitional phases.
In a separate event, the Chief Minister inaugurated the First Referral Unit (FRU) at Ranikor Community Health Center in South West Khasi Hills. The facility is equipped to provide emergency obstetric care, surgical services, and critical care, ensuring improved healthcare access for mothers, infants, and the broader community.
