Meghalaya CM condemns attack on pastor in Odisha

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today strongly condemned the recent attack on a Christian pastor in Odisha allegedly by Bajrang Dal members. Pastor Bipin Bihari Naik from Odisha’s Dhenkanal district was allegedly assaulted, publicly humiliated, and forced to consume cow dung by members of the Bajrang Dal. The incident took place on January 4 at Parjang village, when was attending a prayer meeting at a private residence. “The recent attack on a pastor in Odisha, forcing him to eat cow dung and chant religious slogan is a grave violation of the constitutional rights guaranteed to every citizen of India,” Sangma said. “The repeated attack on Christians taints the diverse culture and religious fabric of our nation. Strongly condemn this incident and urge the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take swift, decisive action against those responsible,” the Meghalaya CM added.
