Meghalaya Board Exams Postponed in West Garo Hills After Clashes

The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) has postponed the Music and Anthropology papers of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination in the West Garo Hills district due to recent clashes between tribal and non-tribal groups over the GHADC polls nomination process. These exams, originally set for March 11 and 12, will be rescheduled, while exams in other districts will proceed as planned. The decision follows the imposition of a curfew in areas affected by violence, including incidents that led to the death of two individuals from alleged police firing. In response to the ongoing tensions, the Meghalaya government has also postponed the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections, previously scheduled for April 10, 2026, as announced by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
