The State BJP is relying on a strategic selection of candidates and constituencies to secure seats in the upcoming KHADC and JHADC elections. The party announced its first list of candidates on Tuesday.The list includes 14 candidates for the KHADC and three for the JHADC. For KHADC, the candidates are Himanta Timung from Jirang, Manin Raja from Nongpoh, Hopingstone Marsharing from Mawhati, Brighstarfield Khongwir from Umsning, Councellor Mukhim from Mawkynrew, Elvisstar Kharbudon from Langkyrdem-Laitkroh, Ebren Khongthah from Nongshken, Fairlock D Ryngksai from Nongthymmai, Kynsaibor Lyngdoh from Malki-Laitumkhrah, Daniella Nonglait from Mawlai, Lewis Janong Sooting from Langrin, Dimandar Lyngdoh from Nongstoin, Dominic Wahlang from Rambrai-Jyrngam, and Roland Mawsor from Mawshynrut.
The candidates for JHADC are Heimonmitre Phawa from Jowai South, Manbha Lyngdoh from Muthlong-Sohkympor, and Shanbor Rymbai from Musniang-Rangad.State BJP general secretary Wankitbok Poshna said, “These are the constituencies we are focusing on, including Ri-Bhoi, East Jaintia Hills, Shillong City, and South West Khasi Hills.”
