Manipur Police have successfully rescued a kidnapped medical officer, Dr. Kh. Nabakeshore, and arrested five suspects involved in the crime. Dr. Nabakeshore was abducted on November 22 from Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai, with the kidnappers demanding ransom and issuing death threats.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the police launched a rescue operation on November 24, tracking the victim to a farmhouse in Lamdeng under Lamshang Police Station. The operation led to the arrest of four suspects:
Wahengbam Ramananda, alias Rousow or Luwangamba, reportedly linked to KCP (MC) Lalumba.
Wahengbam Usharani, alias Piyari or Abem.
Naoraibam Joyshankar (39).
Leichombam Bipin Singh (32).
From their possession, authorities recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, a .32 mm pistol, and 10 live rounds of ammunition.
On November 26, another suspect, Paonam Shamungou, alias Pintu, was arrested. A search of Ramananda’s residence uncovered a cache of arms and suspected narcotics, including:
Three pistols, a revolver, and two carbine magazines.
Ammunition, four detonators, and a .22 rifle.
Eight soap caps suspected to contain heroin No. 4.
