Medanta’s strategic medical outreach boosts healthcare sentiment in Kohima

The Medicity, Gurgaon, recently named India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for the sixth year running, concluded a high-impact three-day medical camp in Kohima on June 27, 2025. Conducted in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland, the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, and Nagaland Police, the camp provided multi-speciality consultations to over 400 people.

The initiative follows Medanta’s MoU with the state government under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), positioning the hospital group for deeper regional integration. Senior officials including Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer, Director P. Tokugha Sema, and DGP Rupin Sharma participated across the three-day event.

Kohima’s healthcare segment is expected to witness a positive ripple effect from the camp. Local stakeholders see this as a catalyst for improved healthcare infrastructure and greater investor confidence in private-public collaborations. The initiative has sparked optimism among patients and providers, especially in light of the state’s pressing healthcare needs, including high cancer prevalence. Medanta’s Chairman Dr. Naresh Trehan emphasized that expanding access to predictive, preventive healthcare in underserved regions like Nagaland is both a strategic necessity and a moral imperative.
