Med Engage National Conference Begins at RIMS, Bringing Experts Together

The National Conference on MedEngage: Uniting Clinicians and Engineers for Biomedical Innovation (MedEngage: UCEBI-2026) commenced on February 18 and 19 at Banting Hall, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal. This two-day academic event aims to foster meaningful collaboration between clinicians and engineers to promote innovation in biomedical research and healthcare technology.

The inaugural ceremony featured prominent figures including Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, as the Chief Guest; Prof. D.V.L.N. Somayajulu, Director of National Institute of Technology Manipur, as the Special Chief Guest; and several others in key roles. Prof. Sharma highlighted that the conference, organized jointly by NIT Manipur, NIT Haryana, and General College, seeks to create an annual platform for addressing pressing health issues such as infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), trauma, and rural health through affordable, AI-driven solutions and collaboration among students.

Prof. Somayajulu emphasized the conference’s alignment with national missions and the substantial ₹500 crore healthcare AI funding, which supports advancing clinician-engineer collaborations in biomedical innovation. The event included discussions on skills development, joint degrees, and partnerships, while also recognizing the ANRF Prime Minister Professorship award initiative.

Attendees comprised clinicians, engineers, researchers, academicians, and students, showcasing a robust interdisciplinary approach and a collective dedication to pushing the boundaries of biomedical innovation.
