Security forces in Manipur arrested two active members of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-PRO) from Tentha under Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal district.The arrested individuals have been identified as Leishangthem Hemanta Singh alias Leishemba (41) and Kiyam Open Meitei alias Penthokpa (41). Security personnel recovered a keypad mobile phone from their possession. The duo is suspected of being involved in unlawful activities linked to the banned insurgent outfit.
Authorities have intensified counter-insurgency operations in the region to curb the activities of outlawed groups. The apprehended individuals have been handed over to the concerned police station for further investigation. In a separate incident, Manipur Police successfully rescued a mentally unstable woman who was found wandering in Nungchappi village under Jiribam Police Station.
The woman has been identified as Lalpiengjo Hmar (37), a resident of Moljol Village in Jiribam district. Concerned locals informed the police after spotting her in a disoriented state. Following verification, she was safely reunited with her family members.
