Manipur Police have arrested two individuals accused of circulating a fake assault video on social media, allegedly causing widespread panic. The video, purportedly depicting an assault and theft of 500 chicks in Phubala, went viral, showing men dressed in black seizing the chicks by force. After investigation, Manipur Police confirmed the video was staged. The suspects, identified as Iphamayum Ramijuddin (30) and Heibokmayum Thoiba (29), both from Kwakta, Ward No. 8, were found responsible for fabricating the incident. Authorities reported that Ramijuddin admitted to creating the hoax, while Thoiba recorded and shared the footage online. Both men were detained, and legal action is underway.
Simultaneously, security forces conducted a major operation across Manipur’s hill and valley districts on November 4, recovering a large cache of arms and explosives from Tengnoupal District’s Samukom area. Seized items included pistols, grenades, IEDs, and communication devices. Authorities are investigating the origin of the weapons, emphasizing the ongoing threat within the region.
To safeguard vital supply routes, security personnel facilitated the movement of 153 vehicles on NH-37 and NH-2, escorting essential supplies through sensitive areas. In addition, 111 police checkpoints were set up across districts, leading to the detention of six individuals for suspected violations, reinforcing the commitment to stability amid regional tensions.
