In a notable operation, the Manipur Police successfully rescued four individuals who were confined in a rented accommodation and targeted for recruitment into the Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL), a proscribed militant organization. This operation was initiated following the arrest of Phamdom Dinesh Singh, an active cadre of the outfit, in Imphal West district. The police reported that the individuals were found in Langjing and were liberated during the operation, with a mobile phone and an unregistered Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle recovered from the accused. Concerns have been raised regarding the militant group’s attempts to recruit vulnerable youth in the region. The identities of the rescued individuals have not been disclosed for security reasons. In response, security forces are undertaking extensive search operations and area dominance to counter criminal activities and extortion within the state.
