Manipur’s DGP Rajiv Singh conducted an in-depth assessment of the law and order situation in Churachandpur district following the recovery of a large cache of firearms by security forces. A high-level security review meeting was held with senior officers from the Manipur Police and other security agencies to evaluate the current security environment, review operational readiness, and enhance collaboration among agencies.
During his visit, Singh inaugurated a new conference room at the Superintendent of Police’s office in Churachandpur and engaged with representatives from local civil society organizations (CSOs). Discussions focused on security issues, the importance of public cooperation, and initiatives aimed at peace-building, highlighting the police leadership’s commitment to ensuring stability and improving security measures in this sensitive area.
Reports indicate that multiple weapons were recovered near the cemetery of Khaopijang village, with seized items including an AK rifle with a magazine, a MA-3 MK II rifle with a magazine, an INSAS rifle with a magazine, and a .315 rifle with a magazine. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of these weapons and to identify those responsible for their possession.
