Manipur CM Vows Tough Action, Seeks Safe Release of Captive Civilians

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has urgently called for the immediate release of civilians captured along the Ukhrul–Imphal road under Litan Police Station, expressing deep concern over the situation. In a statement on his official X (Twitter) account, he warned those responsible for this act of captivity that strict consequences would follow.

Singh emphasized the government’s vigilant monitoring of the circumstances surrounding the incident, labeling it as an unlawful and cowardly act against innocent civilians. He expressed solidarity with the families affected, reassuring them that the government takes the issue very seriously and is committed to identifying and prosecuting those involved.

The Chief Minister reiterated the commitment of his administration to uphold law and order, emphasizing the necessity of ensuring the safety and security of every citizen in Manipur. He has instructed senior police and administrative officials to closely coordinate their efforts and maintain vigilant oversight in the affected region. Immediate action has been mandated to facilitate the civilians’ safe release and to restore normalcy on this vital roadway.
