The Manipur Cabinet has revised the minimum wages across various categories of employees, a move aimed at improving the livelihoods of the state’s workforce. Minister of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, addressed the media late this evening, announcing that the cabinet meeting held today discussed 16 agendas, most of which pertain to the upcoming budget session scheduled for July 31. The cabinet approved the revised minimum wages proposed by the Department of Labour. As per the new decision:
Unskilled labor wages have been increased to ₹400 per day from ₹225.
Semi-skilled labor wages have risen to ₹440 per day from ₹248.
Skilled labor wages are now ₹480 per day, up from ₹273.
Manager/Principal/Vice Principal wages have been increased to ₹590 per day from ₹333.33.
Employment in local authority wages have been raised to ₹450 per day from ₹255.
Part-time sweeper wages are now ₹420 per day, up from ₹240.
Domestic worker part-time employee wages have increased to ₹53 per hour from ₹30.
Additionally, the cabinet approved the release of the second phase of the compensatory crop package for farmers affected by the ongoing crisis. An amount of approximately ₹13.30 crore will be distributed to about 2,072 farmers. In the first phase, ₹18.91 crore was released for compensation. The cabinet also sanctioned the recruitment of PFMS (Public Finance Management System) experts under the Directorate of Treasury and Accounts to ensure the system’s effective functioning. Furthermore, an increment in the allowance for the retired Chief Justice of the High Court was approved.
