Manipur 8 cadres of banned UNLF outfit arrested with arms, ammunition in Thoubal

According to officials on Tuesday, Manipur Police detained eight members of the United Liberation Front of Manipur, a banned organization, and confiscated weapons and ammunition from their hands in the Thoubal area. According to the statement, the UNLF members were taken into custody on Monday for intimidating individuals and impeding the Thoubal district’s land delineation process. “On 28.10.2024, Manipur Police arrested 08 members of UNLF who were indulging in illegal activities by threatening with illegal sophisticated arms and restraining legal land demarcation process at Thoubal District,” Manipur Police wrote on X.

Akoijam Thoupangba Meitei, Thounaojam Sugnu Ngakpa, Ngasepam Nongthouba Meitei, Thiyam Ningthou Meitei, Laishram Atangba Meitei, Leishangthem Nongpok Meitei, and Sorokhaibam Nganba are the individuals who were detained. They were found in possession of sixteen cell phones, one automobile, three AK-47 rifles, two AK-56 rifles, one M-16 rifle, one 9mm handgun, 147 AK-47 live round ammo, 20 M-16 live round ammunition, and 25 9 mm live round ammunition.

Moirangthem Maniton Singh, a PLA cadre from Top Leirak Machin, Keishamthong, Imphal West, was taken into custody by Manipur Police on October 28. He revealed that he engages in extortion from stores in the Imphal region.Earlier on October 24, 11 guns and other war-like items were found in the hill and valley areas of the Manipur districts of Churachandpur, Chandel, and Thoubal by Assam Rifles, working with Manipur Police and other security agencies.
